We use sealants to keep plaque and food out of all of the pits and fissures on your child’s teeth. When we place the covering over the tooth, it helps to decrease the risk of decay.

With sealants, we can only use sealants on the biting surface of the tooth. Good oral hygiene is still important to keep decay from the rest of the tooth.

After your child has gotten a sealant, we recommend that he or she stop eating hard stuff like ice and candy because they can easily fracture the sealants. We also need to see your child regularly to ensure that the sealants are still in place and working well.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about sealants.
